Acides gras oméga-3 et santé cardio-vasculaire

Une étude randomisée, en double aveugle, contrôlée contre placebo a enrôlé 34 hommes âgés de 39 à 66 ans avec des niveaux élevés de triglycérides. Pendant les 8 premiers jours, ils n'ont reçu aucune supplémentation, puis, pendant 90 jours, ils ont reçu quotidiennement 3 g de DHA (l'acide docosahexaénoïque, un acide gras oméga-3) ou un placebo (de l'huile d'olive).
La supplémentation a diminué de 24 % les niveaux à jeun de triglycérides. Le nombre postprandial de petites particules LDL denses a également diminué de façon significative (21 %). Le placebo n'a modifié aucun de ces éléments. Les chercheurs en ont conclu que le DHA pouvait améliorer la santé cardio-vasculaire.
