sutherlandiaEn Afrique du sud, la médecine traditionnelle utilise les parties aériennes de Sutherlandia frutescens pour traiter tout un éventail de maladies incluant l'épilepsie et les convulsions de l'enfant. Une étude a examiné les effets anticonvulsifs d'un extrait aqueux de la plante chez des souris et les a comparés à ceux de médicaments anticonvulsifs. Les résultats ont montré que l'extrait possède une activité anticonvulsive justifiant son utilisation par la médecine traditionnelle.
