Silymarine et sucre sanguin

Une étude clinique randomisée, en double aveugle, a été conduite sur 51 patients diabétiques de type II. Ils ont reçu pendant quatre mois, en plus de leur traitement habituel, 200 mg de silymarine (extrait de chardon Marie) trois fois par jour ou un placebo. La supplémentation a diminué l'hémoglobine glycosylée (HbA1c), un indicateur du contrôle du sucre sanguin. Ses niveaux ont baissé de 1,04 % contre une augmentation de 1,16 % dans le groupe sous placebo.
Les patients prenant de la silymarine ont vu leur glycémie à jeun baisser de 15 % alors qu'elle a augmenté dans le groupe sous placebo. La supplémentation a également diminué le cholestérol total, le cholestérol LDL et les triglycérides.
