DEPRESSION
Dans tous les cas de dépression modérée ou saisonnière (ce qu'on appelle la "déprime" que la médecine traditionnelle traite souvent au Prozac®), un extrait végétal mérite une mention particulière : l'extrait de Millepertuis (Hypericum perforatum), standardisé pour contenir 0,3% d'hypericine, en prises de 300 mg 3 fois par jour, a démontré, dans de multiples études une efficacité supérieure ou égale aux approches conventionnelles et une remarquable absence de contre-indications. Simultanément, la prise des acides aminés L-Phenylalanine (jusqu'à 2,4 g par jour) ou, mieux, de ses métabolites L-Tyrosine et N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, permet de relever rapidement le niveau des neurotransmetteurs Noradrénaline et Dopamine et de redonner aux déprimés l'énergie et l'empathie qui leur font défaut.

DIABETE
Le Diabète Mellitus insulino-dépendant (type I), qui concerne 10 % des cas de diabète, résulte de la destruction des cellules bêta du pancréas, qui produisent l'Insuline, généralement après une attaque auto-immune. Les diabétiques de type I doivent s'injecter plusieurs fois par jour de l'Insuline, après avoir mesuré leur niveau de sucre sanguin, afin de pouvoir métaboliser correctement le glucose. Dans le cas du diabète adulte, ou auto-provoqué (type II), qui concerne 90 % des cas, l'organisme fabrique suffisamment d'Insuline mais les récepteurs insuliniques sont devenus insensibles à ses efforts, ce qui contraint le pancréas à fabriquer encore davantage d'Insuline pour obtenir le même effet. Le diabète type II est presque systématiquement accompagné d'obésité. Si votre glycémie à jeun est supérieure à 1,40g/litre, il y a de bonnes chances pour que vous soyez un diabétique de type II qui l'ignore !

FATIGUE CHRONIQUE (SYDROME DE)
Le syndrome de fatigue chronique est un diagnostic " attrape tout " qui englobe une multitude de symptômes, dont les plus fréquents sont : un bas niveau d'énergie, une faible fièvre, des douleurs musculaires, des troubles du sommeil, des capacités cognitives diminuées, un état semi-dépressif, des maux de tête, des allergies, de l'anxiété, des raideurs dans les articulations, des nausées, vertiges, maux de gorges, sueurs et toux récurrentes. Pour être diagnostiquée, la " fatigue chronique " doit entraîner une réduction d'activité d'au moins 50% pendant 6 mois. Cet affaiblissement généralisé, de plus en plus fréquent dans les sociétés industrielles, répond particulièrement bien aux thérapies nutritionnelles :

GINGIVITE
La gingivite est caractérisée par l'inflammation, le gonflement, l'irritation et la rougeur des gencives. C'est, avec les problèmes qui lui sont associés, dont les parodontites, la cause la plus fréquente de la perte des dents. Une hygiène dentaire correcte aide à prévenir certains des problèmes associés à la gingivite. Mais celle-ci peut aussi être l'un des symptômes du diabète, de la leucémie ou de carences vitaminiques. Le Coenzyme Q10 par voie orale (100 mg par jour) ou topique (en application) réduit les œdèmes, les rougeurs et les saignements symptomatiques des gingivites. L'extrait de Thé Vert par voie orale (apportant au moins 200 mg de polyphénols) ou topique (en boisson) a une activité bactéricide directe et inhibe la formation de la plaque. L'utilisation régulière d'un dentifrice contenant un extrait de Sanguinarine (comme le Veadent® de Colgate) permet aussi de ralentir significativement l'accumulation de la plaque, une cause majeure de gingivite.

HYPERTENSION
Une tension élevée (supérieure à 14 / 9) est un facteur de risque important pour l'occurrence d'une crise cardiaque ou d'une attaque. Dans le cas d'une hypertension légère ou modérée les médicaments traditionnels (diurétiques et bêtabloquants) ont davantage d'effets secondaires négatifs (dont, d'après une étude publiée dans le Journal of the American Medical Association, celui d'accroître le risque cardio-vasculaire !) que bénéfiques. En contraste, l'alternative naturelle n'a pas de contre-indications et peut même apporter des avantages dans d'autres domaines :
